
Master Jennifer Daijuan Gu, vice president of the Confederation of Canadian Wushu Organizations, vice president of the Wushu Kung Fu Alberta, and Vice President of the Jihong Wushu Tai Chi College, was recently appointed as a member of the Judge Committee of the IWUF with a term lasting until 2027. This is the first time in history that a representative from the Canadian martial arts community has held this prestigious position to which only 7 are appointed worldwide.
The IWUF currently has 142 member associations distributed on all continents. It has multiple team leadership organizations that manage and organize championships and competitions. The Technical and Judge Committee are the highest professional and technical leadership bodies.
Jennifer Gu graduated from Guangzhou Sport University, majoring in Wushu, in 1985, and joined the South China Teacher’s University Physical Education faculty staff. Since 1988, she has taught and promoted Wushu in Canada. She is one of the founders of Ji Hong Wushu and Tai Chi College in Canada. Master Jennifer Gu has taught thousands of students in Canada for more than 35 years and trained many top Wushu athletes and world champions. Master Gu has long coached the national Wushu team and has refereed many world championships in Wushu and Taijiquan. In 2024, Master Gu was the Head Judge at the 4th World Taijiquan Championship held In Singapore and the Head Judge at the 9th World Junior Wushu Championship held in Brunei.
In addition, Master Gu has been appointed by the International Health Qigong Federation to serve as a member of the International Health Qigong Federation Technical Committee since 2015.
Master Gu’s appointment is well deserved, and she will serve an important position in the IWUF.
