
In 2024, Ji Hong was proud to have students attend both the 4th World Taijiquan Championships and the 9th World Junior Wushu Championships, two global biennial events representing the pinnacle of competition.
The 4th World Taijiquan Championships in Singapore attracted top Taijiquan athletes from 32 countries and regions across five continents. Team Canada’s roster included 8 athletes competing in the Championship category and 6 in the Demonstration category. Of the 14 athletes gathered from all over Canada to represent the country, 80% were Ji Hong students from our Edmonton, Calgary, and Toronto campuses. Team Canada returned home with 5 medals, 3 of which were attained by Ji Hong students. From the Edmonton campus, Julianna Huang received 1 silver and 1 bronze, and Alex Fang received 1 bronze. In the Demonstration category, every Ji Hong member brought glory to Team Canada with a total of 3 certifications for the 2nd Prize and 10 certifications for the 3rd Prize. Congratulations to all Ji Hong members that attended the competition: Brandon Luo, Alex Fang, Yan Khoo, Julianna Huang, and Charlene Wong from the Championship team and Paul Tylliros, Pavel Garchenko, Carlos Vergara, Sylvia Tran Thu Trinh, Siaw Kin Lee, and Natalie Hai from the Demonstration team.
The 9th World Junior Wushu Championships in Brunei showcased the world’s top junior Wushu athletes ages 18 and under from 50 countries. Melissa Hai and Julianna Huang from Ji Hong were selected as part of Team Canada, representing the country at this competition. Congratulations to both athletes for achieving results of 4th and 6th in their respective categories!
